As we farewell 2023, we pause to look back and are so thankful for all that has been achieved this year with your unwavering support.  2023 has been quite a year!!

The establishment of Booths 9-13 and the simultaneous creation of five Emergency Shelters stand tall as living examples of our collective efforts to combat the evil of human trafficking.  They are a resounding testament to the unwavering dedication and generosity of our supporters. Alongside this, the addition of 17 new counsellors to our team has fortified our capacity to intercept, rescue, and empower the daughters of Nepal.

The launch of the “Food Station café” in 2023 has been one of the most exciting endeavours of this year. This initiative serves not only as a hub for food preparation training and hospitality but also serves as a catalyst in nurturing entrepreneurial skills and empowering rescued girls. Additionally, the expansion of our Safe House, coupled with the ongoing renovations to accommodate a larger number of young women, reaffirms our dedication and the unwavering commitment of you, our supporters, to transforming lives and offering refuge to some of the most vulnerable young women in the world.

We have been so privileged to be able to continue to support the Suryodaya School. We remain committed to ensuring that the 180 students, spanning from infants to year 5, receive vital resources – most notably, the opportunity to receive a good education.  We will continue to champion education as a building block of hope for social change in underprivileged areas.

Change is an inevitable part of any journey. This year, our team also held transitions—bidding farewell to familiar faces while warmly welcoming new ones into our family. In 2023, Aimee finished up her role as Partner Facilitator and we are excited to now have Jess on board in that space. In a few short weeks we will welcome Darren Renolds to the EDM family as our Australia team grows to now be made up of two full time employees and 4 part time staff. Our Nepali team has also increased with the addition of new Booths and Safe Houses. These changes serve as poignant reminders of the dynamic nature of our mission. With each passing year, our resolve strengthens as we strive to leave a lasting and meaningful impact on the lives of those we serve.

Yet, even amidst our accomplishments, our work remains unfinished. Each statistic represents a girl’s real story, a real-life account —a story, like that of Sunita*, who found solace and support within our Safe Homes after enduring unimaginable trauma. We stand for the 20,000 Sunita’s who vanish from Nepal annually, advocating for their rights and safety.

The significance of interception in combating the harrowing effects of human trafficking cannot be overstated. This front-line defence serves as the primary weapon against the enduring trauma inflicted by exploitation and abuse. Our efforts have yielded tangible changes, offering hope to those trapped in dire situations. However, this is only a step in an ongoing battle.

In the 3-year life span of Every Daughter Matters we have, with your help made a difference! Consider the tangible impact of our collective endeavours:

–Educating 22,984 individuals about the dangers of Human Trafficking, who will then pass on what they know to others. In Nepal ignorance is costly.

–Providing counselling and shelter to 688 girls in our Emergency Shelter Houses

–Handing over 644 cases to the police. Each perpetrator represents more than one victim.

–Reuniting 634 girls with their families. This is by far the most rewarding aspect of what we do. To see lost daughters restored to loving homes. To be able to enable families to reunite is so rewarding.

–Intercepting an average of 100 girls every month!! As our net grows so do the numbers of interceptions.

Every number is a life touched, a life saved, and a future empowered and gifted freedom.
