The Problem:
Traffickers prey on vulnerable young women and girls with false promises of jobs, education, or marriage, offering hope for a better life, only to deliver exploitation and abuse.
Every day, young women and girls are taken across the open Nepal-India border, often disappearing forever. Instead of freedom, they are trapped in brothels, subjected to violence, and stripped of their dignity. Others are forced to work in sweatshops or construction sites under bonded labour. Some are deceived into sham marriages and sold into servitude or prostitution. In the darkest cases, victims are targeted for organ harvesting.
FAQ’s
Got a question?
Where do you operate?
We work exclusively along the southern Nepal–India border, in collaboration with local NGOs, police, bus companies, and community leaders.
What does interception involve?
Trained interception counsellors (many of them survivors themselves) identify red flags like grooming, fake job offers, or suspicious travel at borders and transit points. They speak with at-risk young women to assess danger and offer immediate support. This frontline intervention is often the last chance to prevent trafficking before a young woman disappears across the border.
What will an intercepted young woman receive at an emergency shelter?
At an emergency shelter, a girl receives immediate safety, food, rest, and compassionate support. Trained counsellors talk with her about her situation, offering emotional care and helping her understand her options. Shelters are designed to be safe and welcoming, offering a peaceful place to rest and recover while next steps are determined.
How many young women do you intercept?
We intercept 100 to 150 young women each month. In the past year, we prevented 1,701 young women from being trafficked.
